Lilly White
Hello! My name is Lilly, and I was born in Hesse, Germany but live here in Fayetteville now. I love going hiking and to book shops with friends.
In school my favorite classes were art and computer classes. I had no idea about graphic design until college after I switched my major 3 times.

As someone with PTSD and anxiety I find consuming media is often difficult and takes users on a roller coster of emotions. Understanding that there are warnings and transparency needed in the book industry became aware to me after I had back to back negative experiences with stories and required my college roommate to help filter plots to me so I knew when to skip. I realized books don’t have ratings like movies and tv shows do and even fewer have trigger warnings.
Not everyone has a roommate or friend that can screen content for them beforehand so I wanted to create a review and algorithm based app called Well Read. The app can grade and suggest books and give the reader autonomy over their own book warnings. They can choose how much and how in depth the trigger warning is which gives the reader autonomy and respect by being empathetic and listening.

How might we use digital tools to inform readers with anxiety and phobias of potentially stressful content in books?
