Senior Project 2022
Laura Brown
Hey, my name is Laura! I originally grew up in Kentucky but ended up moving to Fayetteville in 2016. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and my two cats, watching new movies, and playing video games. I had always drawn and painted while growing up, so when I learned about graphic design I realized it would be a great fit for me creatively! Not only is graphic design a way for me to make cool and exciting visuals, but it’s a way to creatively solve real problems.
My degree project asks the question “how do mental health portrayals in media affect college-age audiences and how can user experience intervene?” Noticing and experiencing the impact due to the ways mental health and mental illness have been portrayed in media and how they aren’t always accurate to how they present in real life, inspired me to work with this topic. Mental health is just as important as physical health, so even the way it’s portrayed in media can affect our perceptions of it overall.
