Senior Project 2022
Kayla Spear
Hi! I am a Northwest Arkansas native who loves very casual hiking, reading just about anything, and trying not to kill my plants. I am passionate about how design can create a more empathetic world and how activism for people and the earth can inform design practices to have the greatest positive impact. I think of myself as a conceptual designer with a passion for research, creating, and feminism.

Many of my projects throughout school and personally have involved domestic violence, as its prevention and advocacy are something I’m very passionate about. I knew that I wanted my senior project to connect with this in some way, so I zoomed in a bit more and began looking at adult children of domestic violence in Arkansas. This community is the ignored statistic, and Arkansas is one of the most prevalent states for domestic violence. Adult children of domestic violence can deal with a very complex range of experiences. I hope this project would, if needed, aid in their healing process as well as begin to break down the stigma of domestic violence in Arkansas.

How might a prompted journal and resource system empower and advocate for Adult Children of Domestic Violence in AR?
