Senior Project 2022

Hannah Burgess

Hello! My name is Hannah. I enjoy photography, baking, and dancing around to twangy old country music. I grew up in Fayetteville with a love for the Ozarks and a knowledge that I wanted to pursue the arts in some way. I’m extremely grateful to the design program for allowing me to learn and fail and try new things and make a lot of friends. After graduation, I’ll be taking a break, a shift, and then eventually pursuing an MFA and career in photography – that is, until I inevitably pursue my real dream of disappearing to a quiet cottage in the woods. Until then, cheers!

I chose this project because the idea of pretension in the art world is something that frustrates me. I was inspired by my mom, who loves healing about my projects, but doesn’t always know how to access the creative parts of herself. I’m aiming to show people that creativity is different to different people, but present all the same.

How might we redesign the gallery experience to encourage connection, inclusivity, and accessibility for viewers without artistic backgrounds?
