Senior Project 2022

Belle Anderson

Hi:) I’m Belle from Dallas, TX. I currently work as a designer for E.O. Space, a studio here in Fayetteville run by me and my best friends, which I am so grateful to be able to say. I’ll be staying here after graduation to continue my role in the company. Art is a giant part of who I am, and I love that I was able to spend my college career nurturing that part of myself. The UofA Design program has allowed me so much room for experimentation and freedom of thought. I’m leaving here with so much more knowledge and curiosity than when I came.

My project began with an interest in how the internet is affecting the way we behave, communicate, and interact with one another. Our brains are not meant to handle the amount of information that is presented to us, yet we continue to overstimulate ourselves. There is a relationship and attachment we have to the internet that is arguably more intense than a human one, because it is so tethered to our identities.

Melding that with my interest in fashion and how it has the ability to tell a story, I wanted to use clothes as a vehicle to bring this topic to the forefront. I’ve also created an online archive of “Letters to the Internet”, where people can continue the open conversation about how the internet makes them feel.

How might a clothing collection be used to investigate overstimulation caused by the internet so that we reevaluate our dependency on technology?
